Safaricom M-Pesa Charges Increases.

Safaricom has increased it’s charges on M-Pesa as call, data, sms and home fiber drops this is in order to align with the revised excise duty in the 2023 finance act.

The finance act has however revised the excise duty on mobile money transfer services from 12 per cent to 15 per cent, while excise duty on telecommunication services was revised from 20 per cent to 15 per cent.

This however indicates that the mobile money transfer charges will go up while call charges, data and sms will go down on all safaricom M-Pesa  users.

On Friday the court of appeal overturned last months high court order which had suspended the implementation of the 2023 finance act.

The order was lifted by a three bench judges, lifting the suspension that was placed on 30th june by the high court.
